Swift is one of the best known names in the world of touring caravans and for 2014 all three ranges come with new SMART intelligent construction, making them more robust to the elements and an excellent investment for the future. Here you see the main changes and features for the new season.
Over the years, Swift has been constantly redefining touring style and quality.
Last year they launched the multi-award winning Challenger SE, delivering the ultimate in caravan style and specification. Now the launch of the SE, followed the launch of the revolutionary Challenger Sport which changed the face of tourer styling forever.
Swift TV has come to Swift Group HQ in East Yorkshire to find out about the exciting developments coming to a dealer near you for the 2014 season.
Now Gary O’Brien is Swift’s National Sales Manager, he is with me now. Let’s talk about 2013 first how was that for you?
Very good, delighted so far Blair. The initial season has been very strong for us. The 2014 season looks like it’s goes to be a winner for us based on the sales results of the Challenger SE range, which is a very strong range and when you look at the style innovation of the product and the quality we expect to have a very good season next year.
I know that Swift considers itself to be an innovative manufacturer as far as caravans are concerned, so what are the major developments for this year?
For this season Blair our primary focus has to be on construction and improving the quality and value for money of our products.
You mention construction I guess you’re talking about Swift Groups new intelligent construction system: SMART, which is timber-less framing for caravans?
That’s right Blair. SMART, it stands for Strong, modern, aerodynamic, resilient and tried and tested.
Well certainly something to look out for. What about the Value for Money that you have also mentioned what do you mean by that?
Blair, we’ve got a winning combination of style, build quality, specification and price. For 2014 we’ve got the best design and construction, for 2014 we’ve got an upgrade in specification but the main thing: we’ve kept our prices very competitive.
Very good to see you, thank you Gary very much indeed.
Now if you would like more details on SMART have a look at the dedicated video on Swift TV.
Right let’s go and have a look at the ranges of caravans I have behind me: the Challenger Sport, the Challenger SE and the Conqueror.
For SMART it was imperative to retain the stylish aerodynamic shape of each range. SMART is also lighter so fuel efficiency is improved when towing.
The popular exterior graphics schemes on the Sport and SE have been retained for 2014.
For the Conqueror, classic white sides have been introduced replacing the silver.
All ranges now benefit from a host of market leading features including an upgraded 40w solar panel. During the day this will top up the leisure battery when caravanning without mains hook-up or when the van’s left in storage.
On the security front there are NEW High security locks with one key operation for all locks, along with the Thatcham approved TRACKER Retrieve system. Positive overhead chrome locker catches for secure storage when travelling. The ever popular panoramic Sunroof continues to stream light into the caravan.
Keen cooks will delight in the well equipped kitchen that comes with a dual fuel hob, thermostatic oven and grill as well as a ventilated microwave with easy access. To enjoy your meal there is a large dining table with space for full size place settings.
Under your feet is a very stylish French oak effect vinyl that can be covered with removable carpets that are sectioned for added practicality. And in the shower, there is the NEW Ecocamel shower hose and head that gives a more powerful shower while using less water.
The Challenger Sport itself boasts an impressive 10 layouts with a mix of 2, 4 and 6 berths. There are two twin axle models one of which, the 640, is a completely new layout with two seating areas.
As with this model, the Sport 524, the lockers are finished in Mali acacia wood grain and there is a completely NEW Maldives soft furnishing scheme. The fabric has a grey hue with warm threads running through the heavy weave, colour is incorporated through the appealing aspect design of the curtains and scatter cushions accented with aqua and lime.
The heating and hot water systems has been boosted from last year to either the dual fuel Truma Combi 4 or Combi 6 delivering a faster, more efficient heat up and creating a warm comfortable space all year round, even when its sub- zero outside. Now all Swift Caravans achieve Grade 3 for thermal insulation.
And a NEW 113 litre Fridge/Freezer from Thetford with a sleek black exterior has been introduced for 2014.
The Challenger SE range continues to set the standard at this mid-range level. The 10 model line-up comes in 5 single axle and 5 twin axle layouts including the new 630 with front L shaped seating. There is one 2 berth, six 4 berth and three 6 Berth.
Like the Challenger Sport, Mali Acacia woodgrain graces the locker fronts. The contemporary Kitami soft furnishing scheme comes with a grey beige fabric accented with shades of brown flecks. Flower printed cushions and curtains with splashes of vermillion red add warmth and vibrancy.
Swift has retained the popular Alde Central Heating system with choice of 1, 2 or 3KW setting in the SE along with the and easy to use LCD touch screen control panel.
New for 2014 and exclusive to the Swift Group is the exciting addition of the Duvalay Duvalite mattress with innovative lightweight memory fibre technology and a host of benefits not least a relaxing night’s sleep.
At the top end there is the Conqueror, the epitomy if you like of luxury touring with 6 proven layouts two of which are twin axle and with the exception of the 2 berth 480, all will sleep 4 people.
There is a modern twist on the Conqueror’s classic interior styling with the curved upper locker doors coming in high gloss mali acacia woodgrain with cream in-fills and chrome handles.
The sumptuous Kieran soft furnishing scheme blends neutral warm grey fabric with complementary leaf design cushions combined with curtains that are double width for that extra touch of comfort.
The specification throughout befits the high standards you would expect at this level whether it’s the Alde central heating with towel radiator in the washroom , the low energy lighting systems, premium multi-media fittings or 190 litre Dometic Fridge with freezer compartment, everything is designed for your luxury.
You know with the new SMART construction system, high quality design and market leading value for money, Swift consider these caravans the best they have ever manufactured. Indeed the SMART investment for anyone buying a caravan this season.
