In the seven years since the iconic low profile Swift Bolero and Bessacarr 500 Series were launched they have remained leaders in their class, synonymous with levels of style and luxury you normally only expect in more expensive ranges.

I am Blair Jacobs here for Swift TV to find out what makes the Swift Bolero and Bessacarr 500 Series an on-going success and also more hopefully about Swift’s exciting plans for the 2014 season.

I first spoke with Nick Page, Commercial Director here at Swift Group and asked him who buys these motorhomes?

Basically Blair they’re bought by couples, by people that are retiring and the great thing about the product is that they have got great flexibility for an extended holiday in both the UK and onto the Continent and because of Grade 3 and Alde central heating you can use these motorhomes right throughout the year.

So what makes the Bolero and 500 Series so popular?

Well I think really this is a product for a discerning buyer: it’s got high style, great quality in design, a real luxury specification and I guess they really suit people looking for really great value.

The low profile of the van means the aerodynamics are really good, so that’s obviously great for fuel consumption and it is a really well constructed van which inspires great confidence.

So what about 2014 then Nick, what can buyers expect from Swift?

We think we have got a real winning formula. The extra value that we have put into the product on the specification with high gloss locker doors, winter pack as standard and the unique deal we have signed with Duvalay for the Duvalite mattress, all will make this a really great product. Coupled with that Blair these prices are really competitive so that’s a real reason for people to buy.

Outside, the Swift Bolero models continue with their silver cab and sporty silver, graphite and burgundy window line graphics.

The Bessacarr 500 Series models have a new silver cab with British racing green and silver graphics for a classic look.

All models are based on a Fiat Ducato with AL-KO chassis conversion that is normally associated with much more expensive motorhomes. What this does is lower the weight and also improve the ride and the handling.

Now of course with any motorhome, driving is a key consideration and these things really do deliver. All engines are Euro 5+, 2.3litres with 6-speed manual gearboxes and power level is 130bhp or 150bhp. Oh and automatic is an option on all models as well.

The factory fitted burl wood effect dashboard is designed for everything to be in easy reach. The central storage box will hold a laptop and is lockable for added security.

For travelling, the cab seating has multiple adjustments for you to find your ideal driving position. And indeed the rear seats are ergonomically shaped for a more comfortable ride.

Now these models have a Truma 'Crash Sensor Mono' regulator fitted as well enabling you to safely operate the heating system while you’re travelling. Of course what that does is keep the entire living space warm.

The living area has a pleasant and refined ambiance, with natural light streaming in through the cab sunroof and NEW Seitz flush fitting windows.

For 2014, both the Bessacarr 500 Series and Swift Bolero come with new high gloss upper locker doors for that added touch of opulence.

Now the Swift Bolero retains the Mali Acacia woodgrain. The seating has a brown hue with warm toffee threads linking it to the curtain and scatter cushions.

The Bessacarr 500 Series keeps its contemporary Italian Ash furniture complemented by the stylish upholstery with accents of gold.

There is also a new French Oak effect vinyl on the floor that can be covered with the removable carpets as desired.

The popular Alde Central Heating and hot water system with its choice of 1, 2 or 3KW setting and of course it’s easy to use LCD touch screen control panel remains, as does the ultra-low energy lighting system including low level night lights.

The defined kitchen provides ample space for equipment and a versatile food preparation area with the back lit acrylic splash back helping to illuminate where you work.

And as for the kitchen itself, it’s really well equipped with a dual fuel hob, with a thermostatic oven and separate grill, with a 190 litre Dometic 8 series fridge/freezer and a built in microwave.

For 2014, the best selling layouts are taken forward offering between 2 to 4 travelling seats and berths.

Every model has a fixed bed and exclusive to the Swift Group is the exciting addition of the NEW Duvalay Duvalite mattress. It uses innovative lightweight memory fibe technology that comes with a host of benefits not least a relaxing night’s sleep.

Washrooms doors have a new decorative inlay and a domestic style mortice lock.

The washroom itself is enhanced with mirror lighting; there is a separate shower area with the addition of the NEW Eco Camel shower head and hose for a more powerful shower.

Now if protecting your investment is a concern for you, new this year is the Seitz entrance door with 2 point locking system, this along with the popular Thatcham approved TRACKER Retrieve and immobiliser should give you added peace of mind.

So if you are looking for a high quality, luxurious motorhome starting at just over £50,000 these models really do offer good value for money.
