Sterling Caravans are even more distinctive for 2014 with styling cues taken from today’s modern homes. They are also built with Swift Group’s new SMART intelligent construction. Here you see the main changes and features for the new season.
At the Motorhome and Caravan show earlier this year, the Swift Group unveiled their vision on interior styling for caravans into the future.
Hundreds of positive comments were received from the caravan public at the show and through an online survey and as a result many of those modern design innovations were incorporated into the all NEW Sterling caravans for the 2014 season.
I am Blair Jacobs for Swift TV at Swift Group HQ to find out more but before we venture inside let’s first take a look at the exterior styling.
The Sterling brand comprises the Eccles Sport, Eccles SE and Elite ranges.
All are built on Swift Groups new SMART intelligent construction system providing Strong, Modern, Aerodynamic, Resilient and comprehensively Tested caravans.
SMART allows the distinctive shape of the caravans to be retained.

For 2014, the Eccles Sport and SE both come with new range graphics accented with neon red stripes along with graphite gas locker doors, hitch covers, skirts and wheel arches.
The Elite retains its distinctive aerodynamic styling with a new all white exterior introduced for 2014.
Let’s go and meet Chris Milburn who’s the Design Director at Swift inside the Eccles Sport 514.
Chris, your design team were at the heart of this project, where did the inspiration come from?
We wanted to create an appealing and distinctive style that reflected trends in modern living. Inspiration came from many sources in particular we were looking at boutique hotels, we were looking at materials that are new and tactile materials that are not typically seen in caravans at the moment.
And I think product with this type of décor, very modern décor, also gives customers a good choice: at the moment there are lots of products out there that are very wood based in terms of their décor and this gives customers something different.
I know that you unveiled many of the design elements back in February, what was the response then?
The response was fantastic, we had hundreds of people come and view the colour concept van we had at the NEC show and we had over 600 of them fill in the survey, the questionnaire that we had.
That’s been fantastic and given us a real insight into what customers feel about the sort of decors that are on offer in caravans and it gave myself and the rest of my design team a fantastic opportunity to discuss with customers how they use their vans, what sorts of decors they prefer.
When we asked whether or not customers would buy a caravan with that type of décor in it we got an overwhelming response back that yes they were very likely to buy one. And what specifically did they like?
Well they liked all of the elements we have now put into our new Sterling models:
Well it does sound very exciting, Chris thank you very much indeed.
You know every Sterling caravan now comes with a host of market leading equipment including an upgraded 40w solar panel.
During the day this will top up the leisure battery when caravanning without mains hook-up or when the van’s left in storage.
